Safety Policy

Ron Jones The Builder is committed to the implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System to facilitate the provision of a safe workplace for all staff, sub contractors, suppliers and visitors. Our goal is to instigate continuous improvement by improving safety standards in accordance with our legislative and regulatory obligations and the requirements of AS/NZS4801:2001.

We have a mutual responsibility to create a safe work environment, whether a manager, employee or contractor. Fundamental to this is the demonstrated commitment, leadership and accountability by all Ron Jones personnel to ensure that we achieve our goals. In meeting the objectives of this Policy, collectively we must ensure that:

• Safety plans, procedures, and review processes are established and maintained;

• Performance measures are established and regularly reviewed;

• Sustainable outcomes are achieved through the integration of safety into all existing and future workplace practices;

• There is consultation and communication between employees, their representatives and contractors;

• Risk mitigation strategies and programs are implemented to improve safety performance;

• Safety responsibilities are defined and clearly communicated to employees and contractors through initial induction and ongoing safety awareness and training;

• All safety measures undertaken by Ron Jones are in compliance with specified statutory obligations and leading industry practice;

• All safety incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions implemented;

• This policy is reviewed annually in consultation with employees to ensure its effectiveness and conformance with statutory obligations; and

• This policy statement is displayed at all Ron Jones workplaces and readily available to interested parties.

Ron Jones’ Goals are to:

• Protect our workforce and visitors by providing a safe work environment by eliminating hazards where possible to effectively control risks through the implementation of proven risk management methodologies;

• Provide staff with guidance on and training in the identification, assessment and control of hazards in the workplace;

• Ensure safe systems of work;

• Ensure that machinery, plant and substances are in a safe condition;

• Promote and foster a supportive and safe workplace culture;

• Consult with staff in a meaningful and effective manner on OHS issues, enabling each member of staff to contribute to decisions that may affect their health, safety and welfare at work;

• Ensure all suppliers and sub-contractors comply with stated OHS requirements during their provision of specified services to Ron Jones; and

• Regularly measure, publish and continuously improve our safety performance.
